Sites to find houses for rent?
Me and the wife are looking to possibly relocate there to somewhere around the sandy/draper or surrounding areas. We have looked on craigslist and found a few nice houses but want to make sure we dont miss anything. Were a young couple (21 and 23). I think our price range will be right around the 1000 a month range. It will probably be around 2 months untill we get out there though..
Also a few other things. What is the market like there? as far as housing and jobs. is it going to be as hard and cut throat as it is here in tampa, fl to find a job or is it not so bad over there?

You can try KSL.com and click the classified tab at the top of the screen. There is an area for homes for rent. I think for that price range you might have a hard time finding something for rent in the Sandy/Draper area. Maybe a townhome? Try West Jordan area too. That isn't too far from Sandy/Draper, but might be a little less expensive.
You shouldn't have too much trouble finding a job. Finding one that has your current rate of pay might be a bit difficult. I have heard that the pay is much lower than other parts of the country. My husband makes better money here then he did living back east though. Maybe he is the exception rather than the rule? I don't know.
Best of luck with your relocation!

Search for "Daybreak" in cl or ksl.com. It is in South Jordan which ajoins Sandy and Draper. There are a lot of houses and condos for rent here with smaller yards for little or no yard work. It is a very diverse community with active people from all over the world. It is built in a retro style with all houses having large front porches, garages pushed back or in the rear, and trees lining every street. There are miles of exercise paths and many parks and greenspaces along with a lake. Daybreak is also eco-friendly with all the houses meeting EnergyStar requirements, natural landscaping in the greenspaces, and water re-use in all the parks. There will be two light rail stations in Daybreak opening in 2010 that will link Daybreak with downtown and the airport by light rail. It isn't for everyone (if you need a McMansion with acres of yard) but if you want to live an ecologically aware lifestyle in a friendly community with many social functions check out Daybreak. We would not live anywhere else in Utah.

You could find an older house or a duplex in Sugar House for that kind of money. Why would you pick areas so far out in the valley? Mostly middle aged people with a lot of kids. If you are not LDS you will fit in better in Sugar House. Also closer to I-80 to get around, a lot of shopping in Sugar House Commons and along 2100 South. I think the job market will be a little better but not a lot better.
You know you're going to get a completely different climate and life-style here? I happen to lvoe the climate but not everyone does.

daybreak sounds pretty awesome. I will deffinately take a look there. That area was just a top choice because its around her family, anything within 45 minutes is fine by me. I really would rather not live in a very lds area, not that I have anything at all against them. I really just dont want to feel like im constantly having to make sure I dont offend anyone or say the wrong things. I will also take a look at the sugarhouse area, I saw alot of that in craigs list but thought it was a type of house haha..
I want a different climate and life-style. I have been here in the same place my whole life and realy dont care for it. I dont like the heat, I dont like the beach and there isnt much here other than that. Its to hot during the summer to do much outdoors and even the nights are muggy and uncomfortable. I would LOVE to get into snowboarding, camping, 4wheeling, hiking and anything outdoors really. Its also to crowded here for me

Then you will LOVE the climate here. Even when it's 110 degrees, the humidity is around 6% and it feels like 90 to me. I lived in New Orleans most of my life and I hate that climate! SUgar House is a vibrant area with a lot of diversity. On my block we have 2 lesbian couples, 1 single lesbian, three single moms, some non-LDS folks and some LDS folks. We all get along fine and have a block aprty once a year.
