Default not snowing these days, how about on the mountains?

my dad is visiting us at SLC for the next 2 weeks, he would like to see snow, but looks like from looking at the forecast, it might not.
is it snowing at least at Park City or any close by mountains where I can
take him see the snow? some place not too far away, as I'm not familiar with driving on slope with my small Toyota XB car and need to pack my young kid and an old aged dad...thanks! I live around to sugarhouse, foothill drive.

Well, if it's not precipitating down here in the valleys, then it's not snowing in the mountains. However, there is snow up in the mountains (as evidenced by the couple of ski resorts open up there) so if you want to take your father just to see some snow on the ground go on a drive up Little or Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Yeah, there's about 4 ft on the ground at Alta even though they're not open yet. Does he have to see snow falling? Or just on the ground?

They're not far at all; these are the directions from Foothill and Sunnyside to Little Cottonwood Canyon. About 26 minutes, so not that bad.

Drive west on I-80 until you get to Saltair, not sure how much of the actual lake you will see. Four years ago, it was smelly and full of gnats. Or you can go north on I-15 to the exit for Antelope Island. There is a sandy beach out on the island but it's wide. Or you can drive up in the foothills and look across the valey and see the lake! In the summer, you can swim, float really, in the lake but not now.

Little Cottonwood deadends and Big Cottonwood has a dirt road leading over the summit and down into ?the Heber Valley. Not a lot of difference to my uneducated eye. Both canyons are good for hiking, many trails off of them. It's not something you drive to see unless there's Fall color, which should be gone by now. There's a pretty stream along the road and it babbles, but you have to park and clamber down some rocks to get to it. They are only tourist destinations in the sense of being someplace to go do outdoors things.

Actually, Big Cottonwood Canyon is amazing all year round! Little Cottonwood is very pretty too, but not as dramatic. Millcreek Canyon is a little less spectacular, but still pretty to drive through. There is a small fee for that (unlike the other 2).
