What's up with not being able to buy beer in Utah County on Sundays?

It's the law. You can't buy hard liquor in groceries, either - have to go to state liquor stores. This IS Utah, and UT Co is home to a lot of LDS folks, so they are going to run it their way. Like it or leave it. I like Salt Lake Co a lot more.
Many places are closed on Sunday - stores, restaurants, some groceries, etc.

I always am amazed about the fact that some people just are not able to adjust.
If it is not possible on Sundays, why not get it on Saturdays ....
OTOH, I am not sure if the stores that ARE open on Sundays,
then take all their beer supplies Off The Shelves ???
But then, I only partake of *root* or *apple* beer ....

In all fairness, there are a lot of states where alcohol sales are restricted in some way on Sundays. They are called blue laws and go back many decades where laws were based on the lifestyle of the religious right.
If a lot of lawmakers in Utah County had their way, they would halt ALL commerce on Sundays. Instead, most shop owners close voluntarily on their sabbath. I still find it funny in Utah (the whole state) how so many businesses make it a point in their advertising and right on their front windows that they are "Closed Sundays." That is code for "Mormon-owned business."

Chick Fil A is closed on Sundays, but I do not think they are Mormon owned. They are closed on Sundays country wide, not just in Utah.

DP525, yes you are right. A lot of counties across the country have different laws on Sundays. A lot of counties don't even sell alcohol. To everyone, I was simply asking why... I found out who all the disapproving individuals are. Thank you so much for your input! Irman, hope you enjoy your rootbeer! I didnt know there was anything wrong with enjoying a nice cold beer on Sunday watching football.

There isn't--unless you want to have a Chick Fil A sandwich with it!

Nobody said that there was anything wrong with it. You can enjoy your beer all you want. The only thing is knowing if you are going to want that beer on a Sunday, you have to make sure you buy it on one of the other 6 days of the week...or keep that stash stocked.
No one was disapproving at all. SouthernBelle simply stated that it was the law. You asked why and she gave you an answer. My answer simply reiterated a blanket statement that she made. It didn't necessarily pertain to you...that if you (collectively "you", not yourself in particular) don't like the rules, law, ways of life, dominant religion, ect, ect...you can leave. There is plenty of bashing on this board and after a while, it gets old. Some of us like living in Utah, even though we aren't Mormon, and get tired of hearing of hearing the state being trashed.

WOW KAYTIDID. relax. And I do feel IRMAN was disapproving. Why state I only partake in apple or rootbeer.
I know my rights to leave. I really appreciate everyone telling me. It seems you guys are the ones that like to stir up the pot and argue! I think Utah is beautiful... Thanks
