Got my undergrad degree from the U. Never had religion get in the way of my college experience. But then again, I went to class, then immediately left campus to get to work. Didn't spend much time outside of class socializing.

Good luck to you.

I think it would be safe to say that the majority of the faculty at the "U" are not LDS.

I went there and got my B.A., and overall the U of U is not a bad place. Perhaps the most entertaining moment was in an English creative writing class and we were required to critique each other's poems. I had written one that was fairly whimsical, and focused on Mormons, the Temple and jabbed at Moroni. The LDS students were visibly upset, and could not for the life of them concentrate on the poem itself. The non-Mormons loved the poem, the Mormons hated it. The Prof told us that this was the sort of poem that might be printed commercially and was very good.

The Mormons hated the poem because it made them the butt of a joke. The non-Mormons loved the poem because it made the Mormons the butt of a joke. And you seem to think this has anything at all to do with the actual quality of the poem? It's always open season on the Mormons, especially in Utah. I mean why ridicule people if they aren't around to be insulted. I wonder how well a similar poem targeting Judaism, for instance, would have been received.
