Stick with SLC for non-Mormon

I second this opinion. I find Davis, Weber, and Utah Counties too suffocatingly LDS, and I grew up here. For a solid sense of community (that's not religion-based) and good schoosl, Federal Heights and the Avenues are ideal, though those areas are pricey. East Millcreek is another good option, too, though a bit more LDS. East Sugar House, such as 15th & 15th, and the Foothill area are great, too.

Actually, I don't think Weber and Davis Counties are that bad in terms of religious "diversity." From what I've read people aren't that bad up in that neck of the woods.

Please, for the love of.....Don't move to SLC unless you are ready. Ready for terrible pollution, lack of social activities, lack of belonging, lack of neighborhood "fittin in" lack of diversity, lack of many things. I've tried here for years, and find it's not what I'm looking for. I will be of to Colorado where I have family and feel a sense of belonging. Sorry, it's just how I feel...

Oh c'mon, not everyone experiences what you experience. Heck, if you can move out to Stansbury Park and find good neighbors I'm sure most (and I stress most) people can find good neighbors in Salt Lake. There have been people who have fit in before... yeah, Utah is pretty white bread. But yeah, the pollution we have here only affects us a few weeks of a few months during winter... to me at least, Salt Lake isn't that bad...

Centerville is where we were heading when we first came to UT. I wouldn't choose it now though...a small area with alot of shopping (all franchises), one exit that is always backed up. On the S is Bountiful, and N is Farmington/FruitHeights, all of which are nice places to live.
I live in Davis Co., and love it. There are alot of LDS, but I think they are fabulous neighbors...I couldn't say enough good things about them.

Well, we just got back from SLC!!! I Love it!!!! It is so beautiful and there are so many things to do! Everybody was super nice, too. We stayed in the Hilton downtown and walked to Acme Burger....yum! And then took the train to the Gateway for ice cream the next night! You people are spoiled!!!!! Anyplace here in California with this much shopping and other things like what we saw, are sooo dirty! The air even stinks! And your freeway system!!! You guys are geniuses! I have had some people complain to me that the traffic can get kinda bad especially coming from up north (Layton area), and to me it sounds like you have never spent a day in LA before. Now I don't live in LA either, thank God, but it's 2 hours away. And here in Bakersfield, it's turning into a mini LA. We were on nothing but roads while we were there, we drove over 300 miles in the SLC area up to the Layton area in just 3 days, and not once did we see anything close to the awful traffic in SoCal. What a cool place! We found a beautiful home in Kaysville, which is such a pretty area, and still close enough to SLC!
Thank you so much, to everybody who has helped me so far!

Just an update. We have been here, in Kaysville, for 2 weeks. We absolutely LOVE It!!!
Our neighbors are great! The area is beautiful and Salt Lake is so close! My husband ended up getting a job in Centerville which is 10 min away. So it all is working out well for us. Thanks again to all who helped!
