I think you will be very happy here! I know I would love you as a neighbor! You seem to have your head screwed on straight and that is all I ask!

You might want to check out Tooele County too. Okay, I may be biased, but it is a reasonable commute to the city, but still a small town rural feel. There are several towns in Tooele County that have animal rights, so that you can raise the animals you want (Erda and Lakepoint and some parts of Tooele City itself). Housing prices are generally less expensive than the city too.

Where is Tooele County? And can you offer any town names? I would love to check into it more. And although I would love some animals, that can wait if need be. I just want to get there. We will be renting, so we can always move again later on down the road. But of course, if we find someplace with everything we want, then Hooray!!

Tooele County is west of the airport along I-80. There is Lakepoint, Erda, Tooele, Grantsville, Stansbury Park. Those are the closest in Tooele County. Some others are a further distance, which would make a commute to Salt Lake a bit of a drag. Tooele County actually stretches all the way to the NV border.
I live out here and love it. We don't have much in the way of shopping. Grocery stores of course, and a Super Walmart, but no department stores or what have you. I am not a shopper myself, so that doesn't bother me. I like the openness and I can count billions of stars on a clear night. Very peaceful.

The local Tooele paper is Tooele Transcript Bulletin - News, Classifieds, Events and Businesses in Tooele, Utah It is published on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. There are also homes for rent and many to buy right now. A friend is a property manager and he has several homes for rent in Stansbury Park.

I am not sure if you have pets or smoke. Many rentals frown on both, but here is a list of some homes for rent in Tooele County

Yes, it is on the other side of the Oquirrhs. It isn't for everyone, but I love it here. It doesn't take you long to get to Salt Lake and you are just removed enough from the city to be peaceful.
To each their own!

Thanks alot! I really appreciate the web links. The only one I have really been using is the KSL.com site. And if you, or anyone else reading this, can offer up any other good sites from papers, agents,or management co., to find rentals, that would be appreciated!

Craigs list is a good source for rentals.
I was reading your blog to get a better feel for what you were looking for , but really couldnt glean any from it. Other than , your husband being in the asphalt business should do well in SLC ... they really take care of their roads , and it seems the construction is never ending as far as that .... even though they did have a large lay off as far as road construction lately.
And if your considering Tooelle for the country feel , then you might want to consider Grantsville , cuz its about the same distance down I-80 as Tooelle is off of I-80.
I guess the key factor for the area's would be the money you can spend ... the east bench all the way from provo to Ogden is just plain out of some peoples budget. So they pick and choose from the area's west of the freeway , or even west of 7th east. Not that there isnt expensive area's west of the freeway or what you might call cheaper places east of state st. Just that the $$$ amount you want to spend per month is a big help in advice.

I completely forgot craigslist! Thanks! Well, after doing some research on the Tooelle area, I think it may be a little on the high end for a commute. I mapped out the distance from a few of the rental houses in that area to his job and it's about 40 min. So, for now, I think we will stay away from there. Thanks again!

you should rally check out magna ... forget what those snoody eastbenchers say.
Honestly everywhere is expanding there are very nice area's out there .... the other place down the road from there is called Heriman. Both have country feel
All along davis county is kinda country feel compared to salt lake ,,, but the mormon influence is noticeable. If you want to know what that means ... Can you watch KBYU or some of the mormon programing? ... If you can get the gist of what they say ... then realize its going to be put into the local laws , you might do ok in a mormon neighborhood.
