jaceepc is on a distinguished road
I grew up here in SLC - on the east side. (I'm so old, SLC WAS a small town when I was young.)

I swore I would never live on the west side, but last year we bought a house in Herriman. We love it. It has the small town feel, but every convenience of the city - huge new Walmart, new Walgreens, Smiths, every fast food restaurant you can think of, big shopping center within 5 miles, bigger shopping center within 10 miles, nice restaurants (not enough yet but they're still building out here), lots of banks and credit unions, dentists, doctors, brand new hospital, Lowes, Home Depot, and more. Most of the homes are new and every price range. The subdivisions are not a bunch of cookie-cutter homes - they all look different and interesting. The city has put in really nice street lights that give the neighborhood a warm glow at night. There are no HOAs - just a few city regs. We have great schools (one is a charter school) and active neighborhood watch programs. There are several Mormon churches but there are non-Mormons too (like us).

Here's the small town feel: 1) we have movies in the park down the road on Friday nights in the summer; 2) we have our own parades; 3) building our own city center; 4) several different activities going on all summer. We obviously love it here.

I completely agree with that!

I can't really be of much help at all seeing as how my husband and I just moved here ourselves (from Florida). But, I can tell you that we love it here so far. We actually live in Draper (Utah County, about 20 miles south of SLC), and we are very happy. We live on South Mountain in Sun Crest (Utah Luxury Real Estate, Salt Lake City Real Estate) and it is a wonderful place. The people are very nice and it's just such a beautiful area.

As far as the religion goes in Draper, I found this just now...

67.50% of the people in Draper, UT are religious, meaning they affiliate with a religion. 5.96% are Catholic; 3.31% are Protestant; 56.06% are LDS; 1.28% are another Christian faith; 0.47% in Draper, UT are Jewish; 0.04% are an eastern faith; 0.39% affilite with Islam.
That site also has info in the economy, crime, education, transportation, etc, in Draper. My husband and I are just Christians, I guess you could say. We actually go to South Mountain Community Church (South Mountain Community Church - Start Here) and everyone there has been great! As I said to start with, I agree with what Lmejh said about religion. My husband and I are not LDS and it has not been a problem at all. In fact, some of the nicest people we have met out here are Mormon!

Anyway, as I already said, we are new to Utah ourselves, so I can't be of much help, but here are some other websites on Draper if you are interested.

Good luck!
