They have mesh covers that you can put on your dish to keep the snow directly off of it.

they actually have little heaters that you can put on the back that melt the snow off.. they should have helped you out and been smart about placing the dish for you. unfortunatly sometimes you cant and most of the time the techs are lazy and dont care. I see alot of direct tv jobs where they put the dish at the peak of the roof.. what the heck is the point of that. like the 10 feet higher is going to make a difference on a satellite that is 22,000 miles up. I always put it as low as possible without being in the way for that exact reason. Also, all of our satellites face generall the same direction, one of theres is a tad more west (105 degrees, we use typically 110, 119 and 129) but there all lined up over the equator

Im not sure how direct works. I See vans all done up with there logo's but then see somewhere where it says like authorized installer or something. On there site when looking for a job it says something like they will foward you to someone who works for them so I get the assumption that they subcontract out there work, which would make sense to me

My Comcast internet VERY rarely has a "lost connection" message, like maybe once every couple of weeks but my Qwest internet would get that message a couple of times a day. And the Comcast service people have been great for 8 yrs but their customer service people aren't so great. Qwest customer service people were great, except for the idiot that misquoted my price in the beginning.
I have all 3 on Comcast, never had any problems either. I have premium - HBO, and HD service, so it's not cheap, but it all works like it's supposed to, so I really can't complain.

That's what I used to have, and loved, before I had to reduce my monthly bills. Living on a fixed income is tough. Wish I had never changed as I lost my grandfathered cable TV rate. Oh well, live and learn.....

I hate Qwest more than anything. I had a bundle, just internet and tv. Every single month my bill was wrong and I had to call in and speak to more than one person to fix it. My service never changed but it went up and up every single month! I finally broke my bundle. I have my internet with Qwest and my tv with Direct Tv. My bills are perfect each and every month now that Qwest doesn't have to focus on more than one thing. Except for recently, when they applied my payment to the wrong account and shut off my service. I am currently shopping around because I pay too much for both!

Well it really helps me that my downstairs neightbors share my wireless internet and use the cable hook up, even though they have no box, so they toss in $50 a month towards it. But yes, my bill is like $160/mo total.

What the companies won't tell you is that once you have one box, any other TV in the house will work on the same channels. You just have to set the TV to "cable" on the set-up menu. Of course, if you want to record something, it won't!

I got a bill today from Direct TV and they want the termination fee plus one month, like over $400. They wouldn't/couldn't give me a supervisor to talk to, so I made a Public Utilities Commission complaint. You can do it over the internet. I contracted with Qwest not them and they can talk to Qwest about their money!
