Smile Looking to Move West!

Hey! I'm just trying to get some feeback from people in the area, here's my situation:

I grew up in the new england and LOVED the snow and snowboarding, and the seasons with mountains but winters are kinda hit or miss when it comes to the white stuff out there. i always hated it raining in january, haha. so i moved down south and am looking the move back to someplace where i can find a nice suburb to live in, yet still be within an hour to a major ski mountain. i work construction so i need to be around houses. yet i still like my privacy and acreage. I'm really into mountain biking and just being outdoors in general and a lot of people have also told me to try denver.

i was just wondering what the lifestyle and weather was like in SLC, and if it may be a good fit. Any feedback?

Thanks

Sounds Like SLC would be an ideal locale for you....privacy and acreage will come at a price and you may get some sticker shock at home prices and rents. East bench suburbs can be under a half hour drive to Alta, Brighton, Solitude, And Snowbird....tons of snow, little or no New England "Boilerplate"...little or no January rains up at ski level (maybe in the valley though)....mountain biking all over the place...

Lots of building in the Heber Valley (Park City side).....little less snow than above mentioned resorts but a New England transplant will still be very pleased, probably more mountain biking venues (races and competitions too).....better chance at getting privacy and acreage in outlying areas at a good price or rent.....

Good luck in whatever you decide.....

Salt Lake City beats Denver hands down when it comes to snowboarding and mountain biking opportunities. If you were to find something in Cottonwood Heights, you could be up in the mountains, not within an hour, but within 15 minutes. (Besides, we're nicer than the folks in Denver. )
