Question Jordan/Granite School District Split

My family w/ two small kids is moving to SLC this summer. Just read an article on the school district split and the $33+ million price tag.

Any practical thoughts on how this will affect Jordan taxes and how it will affect education in both districts?

For the east side, a granite split would just mean a bit more money per student. Money does not equal good education, I doubt it will improve the overall education drastically. Perhaps they could hire more teachers, but lot's of the facilities would still be in bad shape, possibly inadequate for supporting more teachers. But then again, building new schools won't improve test scores at all.

The Jordan School District split. The east side is now the Canyons School District and the West Side kept the Jordan name. Only residents on the east side were able to vote on this issue.

I think the east side has fewer students but the west side has newer schools. Not sure how that equals out. I don't have kids and I live in the Granite District. The split hasn't affected my taxes....yet.
