Default The Perfect House(s) for sale in your neighborhood?

My family is moving to SLC this summer. I have posted several questions on this forum. We have a good idea where we want to live. We are non-LDS. I have 3 and 5 year old boys.

Here's the million dollar question. Does anyone have home(s) for sale on their block that will be the perfect match for all of our needs??

*East side or Herriman/South Jordon
*$350K max
*3 bed/2 bath
*2 car garage
*nice, larger back yard
*newer (or renovated)
*good mix of families where there are enough non-LDS to socialize when ward events are occuring/when a few beers might be consumed during football

This is half tongue-in-cheek, but figured why not ask...someone out there might know of some good housing leads.

Thanks.

We too are moving to the area fairly soon (september for me, sooner for my significant other if he gets a job) I have had a lot of luck looking on www.ksl.com as well as www.utahrealestate.com I've been looking at all kinds of locations and price ranges around Utah, and there is a lot of inventory on the market right now, so I doubt you'll have any trouble finding what you're looking for. There also seems to be a lot of new construction selling for great prices now as well. One of the great things I've noticed about Utah homes is the square footage you get for the $$. Most of the houses have basements (many are finished) and it's cheaper to build "up" instead of "out", coupled with the fact that many people have large families in Utah, so there isn't as big of a market for smaller square footage homes. Good luck with your search!!

Don't forget that Utah has a $6000.00 credit for any new construction purchase.

and the federal government is offering an 8,000 tax credit for any home purchase before Jan 1st, 2010 and it doesn't have to be paid back......I'm sure you probably can't take both credits though

Actually, you can take both credits! The federal one is just for new home owners, whereas the Utah credit is for any home buyer, but it has to be new construction only. So, if you are a first time home buyer purchasing a new construction home, you have 14K available to you in credits!

But it's better to "recycle" homes....than egg on all those "starving" developers.

Oh, no doubt. I have had both new construction and an existing home. Although new construction is nice when you get to pick your colors and options, many time the existing has upgrades already in place. Not to mention the yard and fencing...

Just thought I would mention it for those that might be considering buying and didn't know about it.

Plenty of nice resales in Daybreak in South Jordan. There are a few homes with sizable backyards and plenty that will meet your price requirement. Make sure you take a look when you come.

Oops, gotta run. Getting together with a couple of other families for beer and pizza tonight.

Good luck in your search!

I agree that Daybreak might be a good fit. There are a few potential "roadbumps," however: 1) the lot sizes (in general) are small, but there are a lot of open common space, 2) there is an HOA. Depending on your view, this can be a good or bad thing. A lot of people don't want "Big Brother" telling them what color they can paint their house, what they can and cannot plant, etc. From what I have heard, however, the HOA in general is lax, but have issued warnings for people's backyard landscaping. If I could afford to move, I would move to Daybreak in a heartbeat, even with all of its problems.
