We are really enjoying Ogden
I just wanted to give everyone an update. We got here last Sunday and though we've only been here just a few days, we are really enjoying Ogden. Our townhome is in the Jefferson Historic District and is just beautiful! It is true there are some run down areas here, but there is a ton of rennovation going on all around us. I guess what one considers a bad area all depends on one's perspective. I've lived in Oklahoma my whole life until now, and I've seen areas there that are much scarier than what I've seen of Ogden. I love the diversity here. Our immediate neighbors to the south are from the Marshall Islands and I just met our hummer-driving neighbor to the North who is of retirement age. Our landlord is a lifelong Utah resident and member of the LDS church, and he couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. I enrolled our son in St. Paul's childcare center and he loves going to "school" every morning. The center is much more structured than his previous daycare, so I think that helps tremendously. I'm thinking of walking down to the megaplex this afternoon to catch a movie because it is so close. My significant other is thrilled with all the authentic mexican restaurants and little taco stands downtown. I will say that drive-thru food is quite a bit more expensive here. I had a Taco Bell craving yesterday afternoon and it was almost 10 bucks! Anywho, we've only been here a few days, so I understand that isn't a long enough period to give a well educated opinion, but so far, so good!

Everything is still pretty good. We did have one bad thing happen though. I accidently left my jeep unlocked and a transient person broke into my car and took a package that I had (they left everything else, including their own bag of clothes must have thought there would be something really good to pawn in there....lol). I'm sure they were going around trying door handles...... Those kinds of things can happen anywhere, though even my little farm town I just moved from had some crime. Since I've been here, my son and I were able to walk downtown a few blocks to the christmas parade and lights. It was a lot of fun. I also got to try out the new movie theater in November (I went and saw New Moon at 2 am......don't judge....lol) and it was really nice. I like the proximity of everything. My mom and stepdad came out to visit last week and really loved Ogden and how the mountains were just right there. I wish there was a Wal-mart closer than Harrisville, but I've heard they might be building one off of Wall street in the future. As much as we love Ogden, we are probably going to have to move further north when our lease is up (I hate hate HATE moving) because the drive is so far for the boyfriend up to Logan so we will probably have to split the difference and find something in Willard or Brigham City. Of course I can always hope that a good opportunity will materialize closer to home.
