Default Moab, Ut?

So, what's so great about living/retireing in Moab? I know it's an outdoor mecca and all that, but what else makes it great or not so great?

You'd probably be better off asking this question in the Utah forum, since this forum covers northern Utah, whereas Moab is in southern Utah.

Well, it's basically a small town, if small towns appeal to you, but there's a lot more to do there than in a lot of small towns. The summers are very, very hot, but not humid and the winters are milder at least than a lot of places. My guess (I'm not sure about this, though) is that it's less LDS than many places in Utah. Does that help?

What makes Moab great besides it being an outdoor Mecca? Well, that's probably 85% of it. Just remember you are right next to Arches National Park on the northwest end of town. You are about 30 miles from Canyonlands National Park. The Colorado River flows right by the outskirts of the city and you can do a float trip with the outfitters who are around. Its on the way to Mesa Verde in Colorado and some other outdoor wonders in San Juan County.

Its a small town that has grown considerably in the last twenty years. Its still mostly motels, campgrounds, and restaurants. Tourism is by far the biggest business. In winter it can seem pretty closed down.
