Ogden Burbs
Job is in Ogden - looking for a non-LDS friendly area, with good schools, houses under $450,000, commute 30 minutes or less.
Any pointers?

There is no "non-LDS" area in Northern Utah within 30 minutes of Ogden. There are areas that are more diverse than other areas. Personally, I would recommend if you can afford a home up to $450,000 that you purchase a residence in East Layton or Fruit Heights. Both are within 30 minutes of Ogden. They are reasonably diverse communities although the majority of people you live next too are almost certain to be LDS.
I suppose another option might be to move to inner city Ogden. The residences here are dirt cheap and falling apart. Nor, do I think its safe living there from a crime standpoint. However, its probably where you will encounter the fewest LDS people if that is a major concern to you.

Thanks - fewest LDS is not a prime concern, just want some diversity in opinion/thought and the ability to find some folks who can enjoy wine with dinner.
I will look at both areas.

Not all of Ogden is bad. "Inner city" Ogden is but South Ogden and North Ogden have great communities to live in. Wherever you are, you are going to come across mormons. It is a fact of life in UT. Uinta is a nice town close to Ogden. I would recommend finding a school you like for your kids and looking in neighborhoods in that schools district. As a parent, I would definitely stay away from the Ogden school district. Also, many non LDS parents look at charter or private schools for their children because it is said that the LDS "rule" the public schools. I just thought I would mention that. Good Luck in your search.

Downtown Ogden - Diverse and Nice in Areas
Way out West,
You would likely be very interested in the Historic Jefferson District in Ogden. It has a very eclectic mix of people and backgrounds and also has darling Victorian homes under $400,000. Its also close to where I live.
Here is one for sale now:

Fully restored. $375K. Beautiful neighborhood. Just blocks from Historic 25th Street.

Hope this helps you in your search.

If you like outdoor life and magnificent views, check out the Ogden Valley (Huntsville / Eden / Liberty)

I second altajoe's post, Eden Huntsville and Liberty are beautiful areas and have many homes and condo's for under 450K.
