Default Question about scone eateries.

I'll be in the SLC area for several days later this month. Since I love scones I normally stop at a Sconecutter while I'm there. But since I now live a fair distance away and only get there once or twice per year, I'm wondering if I'm missing something. Are there better places for scones?

I think in the chattin forum about 3 months back, there were some people having a discussion about that, and several places came up. If I can go back through and find it, I'll copy and paste it over here for you

I'm sorry, but I have ONE word to describe the Sconecutter products....garbage If you want a REAL scone you'll have to drive to Sandy. About 10200 south on State Street is "Joanna's Kitchen". Now THAT is a scone. They are insane on weekends, but otherwise you can get in without much of an issue. That is one of the best things they make, and they are yummy and fresh made. Eating Sconecutter's is like eating cardboard....

Thank you for the information on Joanna's. Don't worry about offending me. I appreciate frankness and honesty.

You know there is a scone from a diner, and then there is a Sconecutter scone. If you want a good sandwich on a scone, Sconecutter is the place to go. If you are looking for a hot buttery scone fresh from the kitchen - I would never recommend Sconecutter. There's just a time for each, if you ask me.
I frequently travel to SLC for weekend trips, and this is my first stop off of the plane. I have to get a turkey avocado scone with the works, add some fries and fry sauce and I am set!
Sorry I could be of no help - just peeved to see the "garbage" comment.

For the "diner" type scones check out Sill's Cafe in Layton, UT. Cheap and tastes fantastic As far as sandwich scones, I'm at a loss
