Utah is paranormal central. Supposedly we have everything here: UFOs, ghosts in every other building, lake monsters, bigfoot, elvis and the jolly green giant.
I make fun of it, but I've seen ghosts in my own 100 year old house near SLC so who knows? Either something "nice" from Dugway has blown over and messed us all up or there is something to it all. Utah is as good a place as you can ask for if you want to find out.

Is it really inordinately well-celebrated? I've always thought Halloween here was similar to Halloween other places, but I've only been to NYC on Halloween. How interesting.

My impression is that it's a bigger deal here than in the Northeast. People flock to those hounted mansion places.. and maybe because there are so many kids around here - it just seemed like there is a lot more going on in the way of Halloween celebrations and events.

Halloween is bigger here than in any other place I've lived. Haunted houses are huge here at Halloween.
And yah, maybe I'm nuts, but when living in some older apartments here some time ago, I did see what I'd describe as a ghost. My sister saw it also.
I think one of the prominent groups of the 'EVP' phenomena is from UT.
Also there are quite a few ghost towns to see if you are willing to go out of the way.

We love Halloween! We have a hospital here in Tooele that is supposedly haunted. We went there last year for the haunted house thing. Loved it!

Halloween is pretty big here. There are a lot of Haunted Houses that open up around Halloween with some of the top ratings in the nation. Too bad you missed Rocky Point, which was supposedly #1 in the nation. They closed down a couple years ago. I practically peed my pants there.
There are claims that there are quite a few hauntings all over the state. If you like ghost towns and you are willing to drive a little, you should check out Frisco in the southwest part of the state. There were more murders there per capita than any other city in the U.S.
