Default Where to live in SLC area? (single male)

Single, male, straight, and recent grad. Where would be the best places to live in the SLC area with an apartment / 1 bedroom type of place. Medium range income. (nothing ghetto nor overly expensive)

I know the area somewhat well, but not what it's actually like to live in it.

I've already viewed many different places online, but am open to suggestions. I'm also interested in knowing more about which areas / neighborhoods that may be best.

There are a lot of apartment complexes along Foothill. Seem to be in the range you mentioned. Also, the Irving Schoolhouse apartments on 2100 South in Sugar House, someone posted that he knows people who moved there and they like it. Near a lot of shopping, restaurants, etc. Both 2100 South and foothill are major streets so access to places is easy. The Marmalade district has a rep as being gay-oriented, not sure if this is true but you seemed to want a straight-oriented area.

The lower Avenues and Sugarhouse would be my recommendations.

Thanks for the info. So is Marmalade the same as the Capitol Hill area?

Pretty much, yes. There is a small area directly north of the Capitol building that is not really Marmalade, but the rest is pretty much the same.

And SoBelle is right---Irving Schoolhouse is a nice place, as is Jefferson School on 800 South, though both would be considered a little pricey by some.

If I were you, I'd also consider some of the mid-range places in Central City: They have names like "Park Place" and "Liberty Oaks" as they're named in reference to Liberty Park. Also, "Victoria Apartments." They're all around 500 E. to 800 E. and 400 S. to 900 S. A great, young singles area.
