Default Jeremy Ranch feedback!

Hi all,
Would appreciate all thoughts (and honest feedback) on the Jeremy Ranch area of Park City. My husband works near SLC airport, so he would be commuting to that area.

We currently live in Boulder, CO, but will be relocating when our house here sells. We are not LDS, have kids (11, 10), and are looking in the $500K-$600K price range for housing.

How's the winter driving from Jeremy Ranch into the city? Things to with kids, schools, etc?

Thanks!

Use the 'search this forum" tool to search for Jeremy Ranch. There have been any number of posts about that area in the past year.

With your husband working west of downtown, and in a housing price range as high as yours, is there a reason you're not considering a high-end Salt Lake City neighborhood? Federal Heights, Yalecrest, even the upper Avenues?

Jeremy Ranch isn't terribly far away from the airport, and it's great if outdoor sports are important to you, but it lacks cultural attractions like museums, IMO. I like to visit Summit County, but it has many seasonal residents and is very small-town (artsy, outdoorsy small town though) when it comes to year-round residency. That said, the schools are supposed to be as good as any in the state, and the winter commute is generally not a problem. I-80 up Parley's Canyon can be treacherous.... probably 2 or 3 times per winter.

I can't imagine paying that much just to live in Jeremy Ranch. Its not even in Park City proper. However, to each his own. It is in a pleasant Mountain location with its own golf course. The others have described the commute time well. Very rarely winter snow can close Parley's Canyon or make the drive to Salt Lake challenging. However, since its I-80, its very well plowed and sanded. Park City Schools have a good reputation.

Jeremy Ranch is a very nice area particularly if you like golf, the neighborhood has a VERY nice golf course clubhouse and some homes and condo's are golf course view.

Unfortunately I found that in many locations you could see and/or HEAR Interstate 80. Whereas easy access would make your husband's commute easier, this fact may or may not be an issue for you. There are some beautiful Condo complexes closer to the bottom of the hills around the golf Clubhouse, but closer to the bottom means closer to I-80.

The further up the hillsides you get the better the view and lower the noise level, and you get closer to hiking/mountain biking trails out the back end of the neighborhoods. But the condo's give way to strictly single family homes and the prices go up too. Might be hard to stay under 600K depending on your needs regarding size and amentities of a home.

Park City schools are top notch, however.

I moved down from Park City 1 year ago... Jeremy Ranch does have the nice freeway access but...the neighborhood is where most of the LDS families in the greater Park City area live. the Church ended up having to building a new house of worship there not to long after we arrived in 1992.
I still work up in PC and that area is also the first place that the inversion sets in,Yes, it is true, Summit county has joined the ranks of seeable and smellable air in the the winter. I have not noticed that is gets tasteable like it can be down here where us mere mortals are but it will get that way soon-unless Summit county steps up...
Another not nice thing about that neighborhood is the sewage treatment plant-I think that there have been a few attempts at getting the smell under control but not to sure on the success of said attempts.
Freeway noise may be the least of the worries where jeremy is concerned-when we moved down, it was the full of short sale and foreclosing properties.
If you really want to live up there check out Summit Park-way in the back and not up high as the freeway noise at the top must be heard to be believed!
