Default Is Glendale really that bad?

There's a school in Glendale my sister's kids may attend, called Dual Immersion Academy. It's a charter, so anyone in the district can go. It's in Glendale (1155 S. Glendale Dr. if that helps!).

I've read that Glendale has gangs, crime, etc. but don't really know if that reputation is valid or overblown. Would you send your kids there (she does not live in that area)? I don't mean would you send them to that school, but rather would you be comfortable driving there daily, having your children in a school in that location?

Thanks.

Personally no. I don't know much about that area but my husband used to live around that area and also my mother in law and its just not a very nice area. I was uncomfortable even driving around it at night. I would certainly not want my kids attending school there.

sytematical is on a distinguished road
Yeah Glendale is not the best area, really any place in the Salt Lake Vally thats on the west side is not great once you get north of 4500 South. I know that because I used to live fairly close to Glendale and I work about 5 minutes from Glendale. Downtown SLC is not a far drive from Glendale though and its much nicer. Same with the Sugar House area.
