No School Tuesday????
I currently live in California and would like to be moved to Utah ( Sandy, Draper area) in the next year and a half.
Is anybody not sending there kids to school on Tuesday? For President Obama's thing.
You can imagine the answers here in California.
If this is the wrong place to post this question I apologize. Let me know where and I will re post.
Thanks for your thoughts.

I really don't see the relevance of your question since you don't live here. Are you trying to find out how conservative or liberal Draper and/or Sandy are? Why not just ask that question?

I posted here because I will be living in Utah. I know it is more conservative there than here and I would like to see what kind of opinion I would get from the people of Utah.
Like I said if I posted in the wrong section I apologize. Looks like the post has been moved to the correct area in this form.

I won't be. I know a few people that I fully expect to keep their kids home. It's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, but there are a lot of stupid people out there.

Most of the districts will make watching the President's speech optional, and the parents have to sign a consent form. If the parents say no, the children will be doing an alternate activity during the speech.

Its funny, but I remember years ago when President Bush addressed school children about the crisis in Afghanistan right after we invaded. As I remember, he asked all school children to contribute $1 to an Afghan relief fund. I thought it was a great idea and had my kids contribute even though I'm no fan of Bush. Now that a democrat is President it seems that some people just can't stand the notion he's going to address school kids. To me, its a double standard plain and simple.

I think part of it has to do with the other movie that a teacher recently showed in his class (and got a lot of attention for) , which was basically just a bunch of celebrities saying they supported Barack Obama. If it were Bush right now, I don't think you'd have the lead singer of rhcp saying "I pledge my service to George Bush..."

This is a news story all over the country. Look in the Politics forum for more of it. It's not just a local issue, although I agree some parents might be sensitized by what happened here recently.

Wasn't looking for a history lesson. Just an opinion. But since you had to... There has never in the history of our nation been a president demand that he have access to all school childeren at one time. Bush Sr., Clinton, Regean, Bush Jr., and Obama have all been to a class room and spoken to a class that has then been reported by the media. This has never happened. That is why the media is reporting it as " Unprecedented". Never happened before!
