Default Commute from SLC to South Jordan?

I'm moving to SLC in a month - visiting this week to find an apartment. I'll be working in South Jordan and I've been looking online at apartments in that area but would prefer to live closer in to the city. I'm assuming that if I was commuting in that direction I'd be going the opposite of much of the traffic? If I were to find an apartment in, for instance, the downtown area somewhere, how long would the morning commute be to South Jordan? Thanks in advance to any assistance.

(Oh and if you know of a great apartment building with attached garages in the city, I'm all ears!)

I'm assuming you want to live in the city for the amenities if offers. If that's so, I think the commute should take you 30-40 minutes, and it would mostly be against traffic. But if you want, I'm sure you could find a cheap place in South Jordan and have a short commute.
