Moving to Salt Lake City area soon. Need help choosing an apartment. I have the apartment guide and for rent books, have also been looking online...but every time I see one I like, I look at apartment reviews (online) and find bad reviews. So, I'm hoping someone can give me good recommendations, and also one's to stay away from. Irving Schoolhouse is too pricey (I've noticed it recommended several times). Looking for somewhere around $900 for 2 bedroom. Anyone who is afraid to mention the "bad" places, please DM me. I'm looking for brutal honesty, since I am single with a child and safety is top priority. Also don't want a "party" place that is hopping every night of the week. Thank you!

One thing about reviews - this obviously isn't full proof - but many times you don't think to write one when you have a positive experience, only when there's a negative.

Some parameters might be helpful here:
-Do you have a job lined up? If so, where is it located?
-How close to your job do you want to live?
-Do you have a car? or do you plan to use public transportation?
-Do you have any particular school district in mind?

Job is in industrial area north part of town (1275 s 4800 w). I have a car, don't mind driving up to about twenty miles. Don't know anything about the schools there yet. My child is elementary age. Most important things to me are safe part of town, quiet, clean apartment complex (you know, where cops aren't being called out to every night, or rowdy neighbors, or twenty people stuffed into one apartment). I've read reviews on line, but going by those, there don't appear to be any good apartments. I'm hoping someone there has some personal knowledge of good places.

For $900 / month you can find some really nice places. I wouldn't worry.

With those parameters I would look for an apartment in Davis County: Woods Cross, Bountiful, or Centerville. They have fairly simple access to your work area via I-15 to I-215 to I-80 to Bangerter (West Valley Fwy). My first choice would be Bountiful.

Thank you for your help...I had never heard of Woods Cross. I'll google it.

I must be confused. Clayton1069, when you say your job in 1275 South 4800 West, do you mean Salt Lake City? No way that address is in "north" of SLC. The baseball park is on 1300 South and around 200-300 West. (Franklin-Covery Field). So 4800 west will be 45 blocks more west. It's roughly in the SLC Airport area. That area is north of West Valley City, Taylorsville, West Jordan and South Jordan.

I'd stay OUT of Davis County for many reasons, if indeed the address you gave is on 1300 South in SLC.

Hope you'll clarify clayton.

I'd wondered about that, too, but assumed the OP meant the north end of the valley, which it is. 1275 South 4800 West is the new Postal Service facility for the area, BTW.

Either way, I'd stay in SLC proper if it were me. Apartments in the 84104 ZIP code would serve you well, as well as west-side neighborhoods like Glendale. There are some nice apartments on the northern end of Redwood Road, too. Plus, in that area of town there are houses for rent that would actually be within your budget.
