Default visting lehi/slc

My family and I are planning a trip out to Lehi, UT to visit my husband's cousin. Here's the thing! Everything that I have read indicates that UT is primarily white with some hispanics. I'm black and my husband is white/native american. Our children are tan and would be confused as being hispanic. I'm really nervous about feeling out of place and our family encountering not so nice people? Do I have a valid reason to worry?

Don't worry about it. I'm a brown mixed man and everything is all good.

I don't think you have anything to worry about. Utah is becoming more diverse. I would like to think the majority of people in the state are tolerent of other races and cultures. I hope you have a great visit.

I moved here from the East Coast last year. I'm actually surprised at the number of minorities here in Utah. You always here about the number of "white" people in Utah. Yes, this place is not as diverse as DC, but at least in Salt Lake you won't stick out like a sore thumb. I think people will generally be nice in Lehi. I don't think there is much overt racism for people who live here, but maybe some standoffishness.

I've lived in Utah for eleven years now, and the racism here makes me sick. It's not so much a racist thing, but a relegious thing. I'm sure most people have heard that in Utah, almost everyone is mormon. I'm not mormon myself, so I have had to deal with a great deal of rude things. Mormons here avoid me and my family because we are not mormon, but if I was of color, I know it would be worse. And in lehi, it's better then where I live. So Lehi is a nice place, yes. Just watch out for the ignorant people that might say some things.
