My husband is in the Air Force, and he's being assigned to Hill AFB. I'm a certified High School teacher, and I was wondering if anyone had any insight on getting a job as a teacher in Salt Lake City. I would have to be re-certified in Utah, as my certification is for New Jersey...does anyone have any experience with the process? I teach Social Studies (History, Politics, etc.). How are the SLC schools in general?

Thanks so much for your help!

Well, you could not be looking for a teqching position at a worse time in SLC. One of the big districts just announced a budget shortfall of 30 million and the impending lay off of a couple hundred teachers. I have a bad feeling that this will be repeated in other districts for the next several years. Utah is a little behind the curve-both sides of the curve-and the recession is just getting into full swing here. Just my opinion though..

Yeah, and we were known for large class sizes even before the layoffs. There are private schools in the area but I don't know if they are hiring, either.
