Default Pepperwood in Sandy

Is anyone familiar with this neighborhood?

I spent my childhood there from 1979 to 1989. My father got a job in SLC in 1979 and the housing market was so strong that the only appropriate house they could find was in Pepperwood. It had 5 bedrooms, about 2000sf with a huge dirt lot. I believe they paid around $165K at the time. Two years later he was laid off, the economy became depressed, and the house was on the market for SIX YEARS, off and on. They were trapped with a house that would not sell for anything. Finally, in 1989 it sold for something like $180K. They didn't even break even with all the improvements and landscaping they did. When I lived in Pepperwood, the entire north area of the development was just a big field filled with dirt and sagebrush. I'm sure it's all houses now.

So what is the average home price there now? Topping 400K?

The Pepperwood area of Sandy is high-end real estate now! Probably you're looking at homes starting in the upper $600,000 on up into the million-dollar range. Too bad you didn't hang on to the old homestead.

Yeah... Pepperwood is now a very nice place to own real estate. That neighborhood was zoned for attendance at my highschool, so I'm very familiar with it. Bummer deal for your dad on that one.
