I think 84105 is like the prettiest neighborhood in the state, and probably not limited to.

With the amoeba like boundaries of Sugarhouse anymore, Sugarhouse is more of an idea than a geographical boundary these days!

Pretty soon, anything from downtown and anything east of 1300 East all the way to Holladay will be considered Sugarhouse!

When I moved back to SLC 2 years ago, I saw a house by the Brickyard shopping plaza (1300 East and 3900 South) listed as a "Sugarhouse Bungalow"

So, perhaps my Murray home is almost in Sugarhouse by now!!!

In either one the further east you go the nicer the homes and neighborhoods.
I don't know what the real feel of the neighborhoods are now, but back in the day the 84106 would have been a little bit more family oriented. (not much, but just a little)
From what I can tell of the people who live there now they are both fairly similar. (I do homehealth and so visit people in their homes all over the valley).
True 9th and 9th will be more of a city feel whereas anything south of the freeway will be a little more residential feeling. We lived a block east of Liberty Park, walking distance to 9th and 9th, when we were married close to 30 years ago now. It was a great place to begin our lives, a wide variety of good people. Hard to believe now it was that long ago.

Sugarhouse is an actual neighborhood. It takes up a decent area and has a certain character and feel. 9th and 9th is literally an intersection with a few retail establishments. It's usually considered part of the 'Central City' neighborhood.
