I'm having a bit of trouble finding a definitive list of apartments near the school and there aren't many reviews on these places. Can anyone provide a few recommendations on nice apartments near the school? I will have my car with me, but I would prefer to walk to school to save gas. I also don't mind recommendations on places that will require a bit of a drive. Thanks.

Not too near but the Irving Schoolhouse Apts on 2100 South in Sugar House are nice. It's a quick drive up 1300 East to get to the U or there are other routes. There are apts on 500/400 South but I don't know the names.

If you have an AWD vehicle, it's no big deal. And many people manage without only a front-wheel drive car. The city does an outstanding job of keping the roads clear, only see snow on the roads when it first starts and they haven't gotten there yet or if it is so heavy they can't keep up (which I have only seen maybe 3 times in 9 winters). Just go slow and leave distance between you and the car in front. PS I moved here from New Orleans and Miss so I had no experience either!

Check out craigslist or ksl.com (then click classifieds, and renting / housing) - There's a great list of apartments and ads people put up.
