The Trax should be running to S. Jordan within a year or two. Still the same commute time if not longer, but at least you're not driving. There's also a new highway / freeway planned specifically for the western side of the SLC Valley including S. Jordan called the Mountain View Corridor

Does anyone know what the HOA fees are right now?

The TRAX is now running and it's pretty cool. As for commutes, yikes. I wouldn't want to have to commute to downtown from there for love or money. 45 minutes is on a GOOD day. Add rain or snow and you've got a nightmare on wheels. If I worked downtown and lived there NO question I'd make TRAX work. When Kennecott gets around to opening up the rest of the Phases of their building surrounding the Daybreak area it will be quite a mess. Right now you're seeing it at it's best.

We were thinking of buying in Daybreak, but as first time home buyers, the HOA fees turned us off. They can be 150 dollars or more, depending on the house. But it does include high speed internet and I believe cable t.v. And to be honest, it wasn't just the fees that turned us off, but the strictness that a few friends of ours experience living in Daybreak. One of them needed to reshuffle the way her front yard was landscaped because her basement kept flooding, and the HOA would not let her change anything. She is still jumping through hoops trying to get permission, and it's been over a year.

We live in Herriman like you do, and I work at the airport. The single biggest motivator for me wanting to move out of here is my commute. It SUCKS on a good day. During or just after snow storms my commute can reach 1.5 hours. 1.5 hours of sheer stress and and anxiety.

That's interesting. I've had to do that drive in the winter before after a snow and it took less than an hour. Provided there are no accidents to clean up I suppose. It will be considerably better once they open up the Mountain View Corridor Hwy however. Something to look forward to.

Considering its fairly unplanned and completely unfunded, I wouldn't hold my breath. But some day, yes, there will be new a highway out there.

Depends on how quick they are to get the roads plowed. If the plows beat me, it makes a huge difference. But to make that commute before the roads are plowed is a nightmare.
