My Birthday is drawing near, and I was wondering if there were a few options in SA that have great seafood.. We've gone to Wildfish and it was awesome but SUPER pricey.. Any other suggestions? Thanks and have a great one!!

Good fresh seafood will always be pricey in SA because we are not a major airport HUB. For the best seafood in SA, though, I recommend The Sand Bar restaurant in the Pearl Brewery. Been there many times, never disappointed.

Try the Grill at Leon Springs. They have excellent seafood and I believe that they use all fresh seafood - nothing frozen. We've had several seafood items there (crab cakes, scallops, snapper, tilapia...plus many more) and they've all been excellent. Their fried calamari is some of the best I've ever had. I'd say it's average price for quality seafood, but one thing it has over wildfish is that you are served a whole meal, rather than having to order your sides separately. Their website is Leon Springs The Grill - Home Page

I've never had a bad meal at Clear Springs Restaurant and most of their menu is seafood. Just had Catfish Etouffee there last night.

sounds yummy, but I would guess some of it is frozen..Tilapia for starters, in order to be fresh it would have to be caught in the gulf or flown in at an unbeleivable price. Crab cakes would probably not be fresh either.

Wildfish over at 1604 and Huebner. I have been told to avoid the San Antonio Yacht Club till they have had time to get thier act together. But on the other hand it has a huge play area for the kids.

Pappadeaux's is an overpriced chain with mediocre seafood. IMO, its just a step up from red lobster. There are much better options in town.

I'll second a pp's recommendation for Bourbon Street as well, though most of their dishes have a very distinctive cajun flair, so if you don't like that then it wouldn't be for you. They also just opened up a new location in Leon Springs in the HEB shopping center.

Whenever I've eated at The Grill at Leon Springs, the waiters have always claimed fresh, never frozen seafood - its something they are quite proud of (and rightlyfully so, in landlocked SA).
