I don't know about that...It certainly won't be easy to find but I did a search of realtor.com and pulled up this house:

26015 Meadowcrest Dr, San Antonio, TX, 78258 - MLS #621532 - Single Family Home real estate - REALTOR.com®

It is listed for $249,000, is on the north side of SA, is in a good school district and has more than a 1/2 acre lot.

You can find a home in that price range in the area your looking. There are plenty out there. Be sure and call the schools and check for capping. The schools in that area fill up fast, get capped, then your kiddos will get bussed elsewhere. Parents were camping outside of the schools for this falls registration, to make sure that kids got in. I'm sure many of the schools are already capped for this fall. It's very competitive to get your kids in.

You have to be careful with realtor.com sometimes. I've happened upon great homes that meet my family's specification to find out that indeed it is not really what it says it is because the realtor put 10000 acres or 100 bedrooms or something stupid to get the listing up quickly.

Getting a good home with a larger (.25-.5 acres) in a good school district and without a view good be doable. It's all about give and take. If it's more the lot size that you're interested in than you need to head towards Floresville. You'll find what you want there...the Fville schools though...I have opinion on.

first off...I know exactly where that home is....great schools / neighborhood, but probably not exactly what the OP is looking for as far as acreage and views.

Don't bother looking in floresville either. We started our home search there because you can get some pretty fabulous homes for little money, but the school district and much of the area down there is nothing to write home about.

OK....I have to say it....Bulverde/Spring branch. Lots of nice homes in the 200k range. Lots at least an acre in size. Some with views. Schools are rated high. All are 9 and 10 rated. Taxes are less because it's Comal county....That's what I'm talking about.

No one said it was a "view" lot. Once the OP got replies that a view would be out of reach for their price range, they re-posted (post #9) asking simply about homes on a 1/2 acre or greater lot in North SA - that is what I was replying to.

What about this house
26038 Cypress Oaks San Antonio, TX 78255 : realestate.mysanantonio.com/

Lot is about 3/4 of an acre. Schools are Northside and supposed to be good.

I didn't want to sway the OP any way. Some people love the area...but I'm heard the same as well about the school district.

There is a reason that this home has been on the market for a total of 367 days.... also, it is not a .68 lot as advertised, it is a .23 lot per BCAD. This broker has false information in the listing.....

To the OP, find a Realtor that you are comfortable working with. We do this for a living and have far more resources available to help with property location than the general public does. A buyers agent fees are covered by the seller, and you'll probably get a better deal with proper representation. A real estate transaction is FAR more than price..
