We are looking to relocate to San Antonio in the near future and we've visited and looked at neighborhoods on the north side of 1604. From the ones we visited, we liked Sonoma Ranch the most because of the hills (views) and the larger lots.

Are there any neighborhoods in north San Antonio that are similiar to Sonoma Ranch that are closer to the 200k price range and has views and larger lots (we aren't fond of our house almost touching the neighbor's)?

If you want a large lot with a view on the north or northwest sides of SA, you had better be ready to pony up more than $200K; unless you are only talking about the price of the lot...

Too true, M2! When we looked 6 years ago, larger lots/homes were easily in the $300+ range - and rose quickly from there! Even out here in New Braunfels, "view" homes are going to be into the mid-200's (easily) today.

What about in the 200s, 200-300k?

Adding to my question, we are looking on the north side for the schools, we have two small children, so we are looking for a kid friendly neighborhood.

Keep going ...

Understand that "view" = Hill Country = $$$

Add in "large lot" and you need to double your price.range to even have a chance!

Let me put it this way....6 years ago, this lot had a 12k "adder" because it was oversized (prox 1/2 acre - 120' x 220'). AFTER the contract was signed, they realized it was also a "view lot" (we overlook the valley - New Braunfels and north). The salesman told me we got VERY lucky - a "view lot" down the street about 1/4th the size of ours went for a 45k premium OVER ours.....and folks were standing in line for it.

After living here nearly 4 years and really getting to know the whole area... you will need to spend at least $350,000 to get into the kind of place you are looking for. I wish we could do it over and we would live in Fair Oaks Ranch on a big lot or up in Bulverde. It would have been money well-worth it to us.

Thank you for the quick responses. What about a neighborhood on the north side of San Antonio with a lot of young families, in a good school district, with decent sized (1/2 acre) lots? We won't go above $250,000.

Then with all due respect, you ain't gonna be on the north side of SA on a half-acre lot.
