IMO that stretch of 1604 between Potranco and Bandera Rd is tied for the worst area for traffic in the city.

^^
this is, unfortunately, true. it's an absolute clusterf--well you know--at times. another example of poor road planning i'm sure.

Potranco area traffic is nowhere near as bad as the Bandera area. Besides, the superstreet is coming "soon" and will fix everything.

There are a few which can and does happen anywhere. WC as a whole has over 3,400 homes...chances are there will be some issues when you're looking at that many homes.

For what it's worth, even though the density of traffic seems to be less than Hwy 281 north outside of 1604 I consider both areas to be equally bad because it's completely unpredictable. Time of day or day of the week doesn't matter - it's a roll of the dice outside of rush hour or the middle of the night as to whether you will get caught up in it or not. If heavy traffic is predictable at least I can plan ahead.

Since you think that's the case the prudent thing to do would be to anticipate heavy traffic and plan your trip accordingly.

I too would strongly agree that Westcreek is safe. The only problems we have had was the egging (2-4 eggs) of my SAWS Truck. There was no paint damage since I caught it first thing in them running, There were more eggs on the driveway than the truck.I wasn't the only target that evening /early morning. I sincerely think it was someone with a high water bill or a Bexar Met Employee. Just Kidding bout the high water bill not Bexar Met. It was more than likely kids being kids. I did the same thing when I was younger. The other was the stealing of my Son's plates on his car. Again kids being kids I'm sure. I know my Son's plates were not used in any Crime.

Yes there have been worse crimes but that is not uncommon when you have homes being built in established Subdivisions. Worker's watch Folks leave day in and day out so they know the times to break in.

Although there have been worse breakins I do not remember of anyone getting hurt. I feel we , no matter what Village we happen to live in are vigilant and many of us don't hesitate to contact BCSD.

If I was looking to live in a nice Subdivision close to Lackland AFB Westcreek would be the place to move. If Families have kids look at what they get for the dues, two pools, a large Sports Park, Tennis and Basketball Courts, A Toddlers' Playground, Walking Trails, etc. You can't go wrong.

Concerning traffic to Lackland it's a hop, skip and a jump. I travel to Hwy 281 at Mulberry / St.Mary's M-F. I take 1604S to 90E (I can't forget my Sunglasses though) to 281 N- when there are no accidents or a flat tire with gawker's the drive takes me (23-24 miles) 45 minutes on the average. As you know the key to fighting traffic is based on the time that you leave which my time is no later than 7::00am (well at least that's my target time) and it is usually smooth sailing. The Lackland AFB drive will be much less. Coming home I'll either take 151 to Military or 90W to Grosenbacher. (The back way as soom refer to it). With that said I leave work around 5:30pm which is 30minutes later but that helps with the cars exiting the Parking Garage and the drive on 281S to 90W. It's my quiet time to make calls or finish paperwork. I have been know to leave a 8:00pm or later since I somnetimes become engulfed in my work.

If we were to live in the Potranco road/Westcreek area, with the drive to work going south, getting on the 1604 south to the I35 South each morning and returning each evening, would that route get all caught up in traffic or is the worst of it further North from Potranco to Culebra?

Any advice welcome...

Had to travel that way for work a couple of years ago, and the section between Potranco and 90 was always an unknown in the morning. Some days I made it to 35 in no time at all, other days it got backed up. Haven't been down that way since they installed the new light before Marbach, though, so I don't know how it is now.

Pretty much... I plan for heavy traffic and the area delivers. Of course it's nothing like the disaster I-35 and 410 has been on some weekends but that's because of construction.
