According to me AND wikipedia:
San Antonio is the second-largest city in the state of Texas and the seventh-largest city in the United States. The city is the seat of Bexar County. Located in the American Southwest and the northern part of South Texas.

Sorry - but quoting Wikipedia as if they were some sort of "impeachable source" doesn't work w/me - they depend on input from 3rd parties, rather than independent in-house information.

I think we should just split the difference and call it South Central.

It's the Southwest. I don't see San Antonio as very southern at all, not this close to Mexico.

It's the Southwest, but how can you say it's not "Southern" at all because of it's proximity to Mexico?

This isn't Mexico. There is still a border there. ... and we're still a part of the Southern U.S. (Just more westerly).

History says.

I dont know where to place San Antonio, its not the typical TX that I know (Northern TX), its not the South that I know and its not the West that I know, I have no idea what category SA would go into, it has a bit of Southern,Western,Texan, and Southwestern influence.

got to the el paso region and it is a desert arid region with old pueblo architecture so it gives the southwest name, plus the wild wild west was in texas too. go to east texas and then trees and water and green becomes apparent. with marshes with crocodiles in them and right next to the gulf, it gives it the southern name. go to the nothern region and its more of a midwest feel with more clear fields and meadows, tornado alley which dominates the midwest, and it snows there too. come to south texas or sa region, well its a area of its own

actually i would say the san antonio area is the border of all the regions, because its southern, yet where south western, yet we have a hint of midwest feel. san antonio is the border of all of americas regions expect the deep west and northeast

Well, perhaps I should clarify--the states that have the closest proximity to the Mexican border are generally the southwestern states.. not southern states....(does that make sense?)so that's sort of what I meant about it not really being southern. :-) But yes, San Antonio is southwestern, all the same.
