Wow, I see her all the time off the 281 access road. I was really puzzled on what she was doing but I know now...

If you're saying that Hollywood Park should get this service without paying for it, I suspect that taxpayers in the cities that do pay for VIA might have a problem with that. I would be one of those taxpayers.

If HP can subsidize VIA service on an a la carte basis, paying per user, rather than kicking in a lump sum for full service, that might be a good compromise. VIA may not want that, though.

Now if they used to pay for it and suddenly stopped, I guess that sucks that you might have to move, but...life sucks sometimes.
Very true.

It just seemed that the mayor expected VIA to continue some level of service. I was reminded of a few years ago when Balcones Heights was looking to end VIA service but still wanted VIA to keep the big Park-N-Ride at Crossroads Mall.

I suppose VIA is still tax payer funded. Truthfully, I figured by now it had been privatized like everything else. Business is business, so I guess the fact they are already driving by here doesn't count much. But, unless something reasonable can be worked out for service to the edge of town, no one is going to be for VIA returning.

I agree with Bowie not only will VIA put themselves in a liability issue, and possible lawsuit if the driver happens to run over a cat, or hit something. but its not fair for the rest of the taxpayers! Silly people who are bashing and criticizing VIA for something they dont have control off.

I wonder if any of the disabled woman's co-workers could meet her where ViaTrans drops her off, and take her back after she gets off work? Maybe they could take turns helping her out. I wonder what this woman does when it's pouring rain? I think her only other alternative would be to find employment inside VIA's service area.

Windcrest is another suburban city that voted to opt out of VIA service. Whether the have VIA service or not, many suburban cities have sales tax rates that are slightly higher than the City of San Antonio.

Could HP cough up just for the disabled service? It isn't a poor area. There are folks there who go all teary for the deer.

I can't understand why the bus won't stop on the 281 access road at Pantheon Way and let her off. She would only have to walk across The Texas Roadhouse parking lot to her office. We used to be able to pull a cord for stops at places other that a bus stop.

They wouldn't be able to stop at Pantheon Way because apparently, that intersection is inside Hollywood Park City Limits. The street sign in the video was green. City of San Antonio street signs are blue.

There's no cord to pull on ViaTrans, because it ordinarily works as a door-to-door service for disabled patrons. Only in this case, they can't do that because the woman's destination is in a communty that has opted out of VIA service.
