Are there any worthy local chat rooms now days (general discussions)? In the 90's aol was huge, but many of those have become spam.

Chat rooms are slowly dying out now that the internet is less geared toward anonymous chats with others and is now geared more toward social networking with those you already know irl (in real life, a term that might also die out since the first generation of net users had a clear line of demarcation that separated online and irl, that era is over including the warnings of not putting your private information online.)

I would favor a chat room and the AoL one is pretty pathetic the last time I visited a year ago or so.

I'd love to find a good local chat room... my problem is that I would like to make new friends and I don't have very many avenues. I'd like to get to know people a bit before I met them in real life and frankly posting a personal ad for 'friends' feels kinda pathetic...

LOL @ SabresFanInSa....I'm kinda-sorta still new to SA and really the only people I know are from work. I read about meetup.com for SA area which is really cool in that you can find local groups for various events based on your interests. If they could add said chat feature that might have been a good fit for you Rover82. Good Luck!!
