There isn't a certain section of the city that is specifically middle class latino, you'll find middle class latinos in almost every middle class area of San Antonio. From the north side, to northwest to northeast to far west far north north central, southeast etc.

San Antonio seems to be divided up much more by $$$ rather than ethnicity. There are hispanics all over the place.....rich, poor, and in-between. You won't find ethnic communities like you do in other places like Chicago, for instance.

Slightly untrue, as the inner east is very much majority black while the inner west and south is very much majority hispanic. Major of northeast is black as well but not as densely populated as the inner east side however that is slowly changing as the black population on the northeast side continues to grow.

Other than that the ethinicity is fairly mixed everywhere else.

Point taken. However, most of the areas you describe are lower income areas. It seems to me that in S.A. if you have $$$ you can pretty much live wherever you want, no matter your ethnicity.
I used Chicago as an example because there are certain areas where it doesn't matter what your income is, if you are not the right ethnicity you won't be welcome in the neighborhood.

I thought that was what the O.P. was getting at.

For sure, I guess are points were just misread.

I agree, in terms of middle class of any race they are integrated everywhere outside of the older inner east, inner west, inner south sides (south of 90) that are all basically lower income areas.

Hi,

Excerpt:

Concentration of Hispanic population: As you can see on the map, there is high concentration of Hispanic population, especially in South and Southwest region. San Antonio is the largest Hispanic-majority city in the U.S., which about 55% of the population are Hispanic, 37% White (what's often referred to as Anglo), 7% of African-American, and 1% of other racial groups. More than 41% of residents are native San Antonians, 21% are Texans from elsewhere, more than 25% come from another state, 8% claim to be from Mexico, and another 3% are from some other country.

The map that is referred to is here:

STI: ERsys - San Antonio, TX (Ethnicity)

This info came from the 2000 census. I live on the NW side of town, middle-middle class (best way to describe my upbringing) neighborhood. My Hispanic next door neighbors have lived there for 15 years with no problems whatsoever. We are closer to them than anyone else on the cul-de-sac.

I guess you could say that the Hispanics are concentrated on the South and West sides of the city but since the majority of San Antonio is Hispanic, I am sure you will feel comfortable anywhere you choose.

Racial tension does not seem to be a problem in the city of San Antonio, it is it's own little island of peace.

Good luck on your move.

That is the WONDERFUL thing about SA...Latinos, Blacks, Asians, Anglos live everywhere. If you have the $$ you are welcome. There are lots of upper/upper middle class Latinos at Sonterra, Dominion, Elm Creek, AH,TH, Inwood, you name it. SA really is a pretty integrated city....unlike Austin, I might say.
