JAY P,
I can imagine how that email touched you. As I was growing up in the KEXL world listening to Alan meant that you devoted 100% of yourself to listening. No homework, no parents nagging and usually some beer or something else. That one time I got to meet Alan when he was working at KISS when the studios were off St Mary's St was way too cool. It was mid 70s or so I was in my 20s and you would of thought that i just met Eric Clapton. He was it!!! Do you remember the old KITE FM NOW SOUNDS that Mike Love used to jock? It was from 12M to some late hour Saturday night only(?), that was when i heard In A Gadda Da Vida for the first time. When you get time upload the goodies, I can not wait to hear them. Take care of yourself.

I wish I could have recorded some stuff growing up in the 80's listening to KTFM and Q96, but great job on your recording and history of Kexl.

I LOVED Drex, Roberta, and Miss Ree. I called in to the show several times. I loved it when Drex went on his rants. It was trashy but fabulous. I thought Drex had a hot voice. I don't know why. I was a little too young to be really be listening to it, but my mother didn't seem to care.

Willsatx- HOT KTFM 103 - Joe Nasty, Dr Drex and the gang. Didn't listen often but it was good at times, especially with Drex in the evenings.
Joe Nasty made his return back today on 94-1 KTFM. Now if they could only bring back Drex and the rest of the gang.

"Rest of the gang?"

Does anyone even know the rest of the gang's names?
I consider anyone who occupied the "old" KTSA/KTFM building as someone who poured the foundation to the "new" building that people like Drex walked in at the last minute.
If we are going to talk "old school," let's talk OLD SCHOOL!

I'm talking about people like: Hector Reyes, David Munoz, Fred Henderson, Robert "W.W." Lopez, Frank Felan, myself, Art Garza, Elizabeth Ruiz, Diana Torres, Mike Jones, Bonnie Garcia, Kathy Romero, JT Lee, Brad Scott, "Hollywood" Steve Owens," Sean Demory," The Lovely and Talented Catfish, "Dirty" Steve Michaels, "Dancin'" Don Wayne, Wendy Todd, Blake Lindsey, Ruben O Garcia," Joe Nasty and Bill Thorman.
Joe Nasty took over as PD in the early eighties, and Bill Thorman, shortly after.
These two men propelled KTFM into the stratosphere, but all of the above had a hand in putting KTSA down, and KTFM on the map.

Then again, what do I know?

KTSA is still going strong, and KTFM is suffering from a staff identity crisis.

Peace guys.
All my memories are fond ones.
