Did you ever hear back from the guy who said he had a KTFM aircheck of Greg Martin doing a Sunday night all request show? I'm Greg Martin and would love and hate to hear that aircheck.
Speaking of Greg Martin -- didn't you do that thing where the girl called in and the grandmother gets on the phone and is yelling at her to get off. There was some kind of rap song intermixed with it, singing about "Veronica."
That was some classic KTFM!
And what ever happened to that guy they called, The Janitor"? That guy had a great voice.

OMIGOD the Veronica song was the best!!
"Go clean your room Veronica!"
I am not sure if Greg Martin and Joe B. are the same person but I thought it was Joe B. who did that whole thing.

The Janitor worked briefly with 96.7 KFHI Georgetown Austin during the early and mid 90s.
I remember reading an article on how Drex's time in Texas was not quite peaches and cream and that he missed the North/North East. He is from I think PA and he had always wanted to go back. Evidently he thought it was too hot down here. When he left, they actually cut his show short by 1 or 2 months because they didn't like the fact that he was leaving. They had this promo where they were calling Joey D back and he was like, "Im coming, Im coming" as if someone was going to change their mind. He should have left where he was coming from because the station changed formats very soon there after and finally went under. Funny how they would always threaten "going under" in years passed but then they would add, "Under Construction" and just change a little bit.
OK, well someone sent me a message saying they were looking for "Thorazine Shuffle" that used to be played on Q96. I have a copy of it. Send me a message and let me know who you are. It may be a while but I can get a copy to you. I have it on vinyl and I'll have to digitize it.
Nick St. John of KEXL fame sadly passed away last summer. One of his long time friends gave me some of Nick's personal reel-to-reel tapes and just last week I found a friend who had a reel-to-reel player that actually still worked that I could borrow to digitize the tapes for my "dedication to KEXL" website remembering KEXL San Antonio 104.5 1970's
If you frequent the KEXL site then the new sound bytes I just put in are just a couple paragraphs below Barbara Marullo's photo about mid-way down the site. Also under the photo of Nick at the KEXL Skateboard Surfari event is a new sound byte from the same source where he is announcing that upcoming event and to call in to register if you wanted to participate. Enjoy!
