I know it's almost a year later, and that some of you may no longer be there, but I love the song Private Affair by Garfield. I have been working on an acoustic version to play live, and did a search and found this thread. The lyrics I saw posted were just a tad off, I think, and I am posting what I believe are the correct ones below. Incidentally, the reason we are mostly (or all) from San Antonio is because - get ready for THIS blast from the past - "The Godfather" Joe Anthony, DJ for 99.5 KISS (deceased, unfortunately) was a huge fan of this song and loved to put it on his playlists. I would venture a guess that if you're not from San Antonio or the surrounding area you have a VERY slim chance of ever having heard of this song. Anyway, thanks for reading my babbling.

Garfield - Private affair
Penny for your thoughts
Mister, Penny for your thoughts
You look so far away
It must be nice to drift that way
Maybe it's a lady you're missing,
My, I hope not
You see, I've been watching you
Well, you don't seem impressed
Well Jenny is my name
And pleasure is my game
And I keep a tidy home
And I'm as good once as I ever once was,
'bout as good as one night can be
but not really quite as good as the years gone by
Yes I'm as good once as I ever once was,
'bout as good as one night should be,
but not really quite as good as the years gone by
Time fly now, oh time fly
Well actually I was thinking,
you see it helps me to relax a bit
I'd just eaten dinner in Paris,
and I walked along the (this can't be right) shore of San Issay
Well Jacob is my name,
And a Butcher is my trade,
Yet I haven't seen work
in quite some time now
And I'm not as good as I once was,
or as good as one night should be,
yet I haven't really thought about it in a long, long time
No I'm not as good as I once was,
or as good as one night should be,
yet I haven't really thought about it in a long, long time
It's been a long time,
been a long time
been a long time
But, I could use some conversation,
if you'd care to sit awhile.
That'd be fine, Jacob, she said,
but not here.
So they walked for awhile,
and they spoke their little truths,
you see, there's no need to lie
when talking to a stranger.
Yeah Jacob had been a butcher
for some twenty two and a half years,
until in times when there was difficulty
he sold the little business
And Jenny, she was a housewife,
for only three years,
when her man had been killed in a political battle.
Now, when Jacob heard this,
he looked at Jenny,
and he called out,
yes he called out,
(he said) Jenny this world
Is a private affair
for those out there
for those with the power
Oh Jenny this world
Is a private affair
for those out there
for those with the power
(spoken)
...That may be so, Jacob.
But if it weren't for ones like you and I,
they'd not be ther now, (would they?)
Instrumental and transition to guitar riffs
There ain't no sense to (female dog) about it, 'cause you all know what's gone wrong,
And late at night, when you're in your bed, the bad don't seem so wrong,
(repeat many times, then)
You know it seems I've been fighting since the day I was born, but I know that I can't complain,
and it looks like I'll be fighting 'til the day that I die, but I don't let it bring me down...
...The song is even a little appropriate for today's political times...
Well actually I was thinking,
you see it helps me to relax a bit
I'd just eaten dinner in Paris,
and I walked along the (this can't be right) shore of San Issay
Well actually I was thinking,
you see it helps me to relax a bit
I'd just eaten dinner in Paris,
and I walked along the Champs Elysees
(The Champs Elysees is French for Elysian Fields and is the main street in Paris. It is pronounced "shomps el-ee-ZAY")
Man, I wish I could of been around to hear Q96 back in the day. Only Alt we've ever had. I'm suprised no ones mentioned The Armadillo on 106.7 (Country) back around 94 or so. Then it flipped to Smooth Jazz I think. Also, remember a couple of years back when KTFM Stunted with Wild Thing one day and then flipped to WILD 1027 where they played nothing but HIP HOP Mixes.
and kudos to those who mentioned the 96.1 hip hop. That was the best hip hop station SA has ever had. I remember their "bottom of the hour bass" segments that they use to have. And their "not responsible for damaged woofers" moniker was classic.
OMG I haven't been here for about a year lol thanks for the YT video. Like I said, I don't know how nor have the equipment to do it. Plus I have very bad luck with electronics, I had to go have my PC fixed, then laptop and now my external HD messed up in less than a month, so I'm not the quite the person who can do it lol sorry I ain't paying anybody to either, I need the cash in these rough times :\
I am not sure if Greg Martin and Joe B. are the same person but I thought it was Joe B. who did that whole thing.
LMAO I soooooo remember this!!! I was actually listening when it happened and then when they played the song lmfaooooo I went looking online and someone uploaded it. listening to it brought back so many memories apart from dying of laughter lol

Old Joe Anthony used to have Mr Pizza at Culebra and Bandera at 24th I guess. In front of the old Varsity Drive In. H.E.B took in the property I believe. Joe lived over off New Braunfels just south of Fort Sam's south gate. East of New Braunfels! Mid to late 70's!! KBUC was huge for Country and KBER was country. I liked KTFM and on AM KTSA and KONO of course.
