Default High School Football

I do not know about the rest of you, but I am already getting pumped for this season. Anyone have a feeling on how the San Antonio 27 and 28 5A teams will do this year? Does Brandeis still have a tough team, will Judson rebound to make it out of the 1st or 2nd week of playoffs. Will a different team like the Holmes Huskies step up. 2 a days are coming right around the corner. Look forward to reading what y'all think.

All I know is I'm looking forward to seeing Brennan play Smithson Valley.

The Madison-Warren game will be televised nationally on ESPN. Not sure that's ever happened in this area before and it probably signals that those two are the teams to beat in their divisions.

I'm intrigued by the possible introduction of a Division 6A next season and what that will do to divisions and traditional rivalries in this area.

Actually, it's the Madison-Steele game originallly scheduled for Aug 27th, but moved to Aug 28th to accomodate ESPN. Madison doesn't play Warren except in a pre-season scrimmage.

Malcolm Brown(Steele) vs Aaron Green(Madison). Should be a good ballgame

I didn't know we were getting 6A. Anyone have a general idea or see a list of which schools will go to it?

FYI, Running back for Steele, Malcom Brown, is rated the #1 recruit in the nation. Probably why ESPN is interested in this game.

It's just a proposal at this point. The San Antonio area has some of the largest high schools in the state, so it's reasonable to expect that if it happened, most of the current 5A schools would become 6A.

I do believe that would be my high school that won it in every class (see Bowies article)

winning in 2a '65, '67
winning in 3a '71
winning in 4a in '77
winning in 5a in '86 '87 and '94

Interesting article just the same. Will be curious to see how that plays out for all sports.

RGJ, That Brown kid is a beast. I hope his future is full of highlights like those. I would like to hear the Defensive coaches going over film with their teams before they play him. They would be like "OK everyone we are playing this guy all I can say is try not to get hurt."

The Brennan team should be OK but for a first year High School they may struggle just a little but the game for them will be against Kerville Tivy that would be an upset for the ages. Smithson Valley is always strong also.
