Does anyone visit these? Which are your favorites?

I also have a question specifically pertaining to the Battle of Rosillo Creek (Battle of Rosalis). I went a few years ago to look for the historical marker and could not find it. Has anyone seen it?

I'm not sure where to find it, but I think there is supposed to be a website with all the Bexar country historical markers listed? Hmmm....

Found this nifty lil' map with a list of some here: http://www.forttours.com/pages/hmbexar.asp

Try going to Texas Historical Markers and select 'Bexar' county (I can't link to it directly).

There is also the Texas Historical Commission - Historic Sites Atlas web site atlas, and more information on Texas historical marker program here.

An interesting factoid, as of 2007 there were over 13,000 Official Texas Historical Markers placed throughout the state. Texas has the most prolific state historical marker program in the US!

I don't hunt for historical markers, but when I see one I will usually stop to read it. I love history and it really adds character to an area when you can read about some of the events that occurred there or the significance of the location.

Cheers! M2

Default A Local Surprise ,

I lived just a of couple miles from this location, Rosillo Creek, as a kid, off South New Braunfels and never knew this bloody battle took place right in the vicinity.
Until now. This is very, very, interesting history. It is good this guy, Ed Crawford, moved the marker to its' present position. It was loco to have it up Hildebrandt and W.W. White. That is where wikipedia says the historical marker is located.
Why would the marker have been erected in the wrong place ?

Rosillo Creek runs south of and to the east of Salado creek. This is an area we referred to as 300 or was it 600/800 acres as a teen. Used to hill climb on motorcycles back in there in the 60's. I'm thinking Ed Twoknife could be Ed Crawford? I read about the creek and battle sometime ago...
