Default Murder-Suicide at the Woods of Deerfield

Sad story. Things are still being sorted through.

Police identify murder-suicide victims

San Antonio police have identified a shooter and his three victims from a Wednesday night murder-suicide that shocked neighbors in a Northwest Side subdivision, but investigators are still trying to figure out why it happened.
Police identify murder-suicide victims

I guess they say NW side because it's on the other side of 281...so there's the reasoning behind that. It also shows us that these types of things can happen anywhere in San Antoniom even gated communities.

For the sake of completeness, it's important to point out that the shooter was related to the people he shot. This wasn't some random home invasion or drive-by or drug deal gone bad. It could happen in any neighborhood. Plus, the radio news story I heard said that this family had only lived in the neighborhood for a few months.

The old, "shows us that these types of things can happen anywhere in San Antonio even gated communities" bit is very tired. I have never seen anyone here or elsewhere state domestic violence is confined to urban poor areas.

If this were the result of gang violence it might rightfully raise an eyebrow.

A tragic situation, in any case...the man apparently went berserk for whatever reason. Thankfully, the older child had gotten the other two children outside before it happened and they are safe, staying with grandparents.

Jules07 - I was going to quote your response but decided it wasn't worth repeating. Please show some respect. These people lived behind me and over a few houses, and what you wrote is tasteless.

I was upstairs painting; I did not hear the shots or know the people personally. The helicopter(s), I did hear. I thought it was a bad accident on 1604. It seems impossible to understand what would cause someone to do such a bad thing to their stepfather and family; it truly makes no sense at all.

So sad those kids have to grow up without their mother. The oldest boy was very brave. Thank goodness he was able to save himself and his siblings.

Of course people from SA know that violence can happen anywhere in this city. Doesn't matter that the neighborhood was a gated-community. This was an isolated incident and not some random crime like gang violence, burglary, or drive by, etc. It was someone that family knew who murdered them.
