I've been passing this little strip mall off of Sonterra that seemed to have many different food choices. Egg and I, Lion and Rose and several others. Those where the only ones I could see from the road. Anyway, I decided to go try out Lion and Rose. There was no parking so I had to park further in to the mall itself. This is when I came across Kumori, sushi and tempanuaki.

What a posh little place, it seemed very upscale yet I didn't feel out of place with Jeans and a Tshirt. Now I have tried one other sushi place, other then HEB (Blegh), Sushi Zushi and found it okay. At Sushi Zushi I was a little intimidated by all the roll choices. It was the same here at Kumori, however the staff was willing to point me in the right direction. The food was the freshest fish I have had in a while.

So now I am convinced, the smaller almost crack in the wall restaurants are overall better places to eat for the most part. My question is, where are other little Japanese and Chinese places that you like to go to in San Antonio? New to the area, so I like to know where the locals go. ^^

They do have lunch specials...my kids have been begging me to take them to a teppanyaki place again (prefer lunch price wise ). Interestingly, they have 5 locations...4 in McAllen!

Ooo didn't know they had a website. Thanks for the link, now I can remember what I ate without screwing up. Yakamishi Beef, Baby squid and Godzilla roll.

Also that is odd, it says the one in SA is coming soon. Could they have done a soft opening?

Probably just haven't updated their website yet...although I know that it hasn't been open for very long.

I like Goro's Goro's Sushi - San Antonio, TX.
When China Latina was open, I use to stop in right before heading to First Friday.
