Interesting concept. I've seen flowers and ties in Japanese vending machines.
Wonder what else we'll see dispensed in a vending machine?
Guns perhaps? Call it "Gat-In-A-Box"?

i saw something similar at upscale malls before, pertaining to electronics like ipods and such. it certainly made me facepalm. kind of like those video game rental kiosks at the gas station where you can rent a video game for three dollars a day... or if you want, buy it for 150% the list price! convenience!

i would care less if it weren't for the fact that heb is going into the toilet in the first place. i haven't seen one yet at the one i shop at yet (i haven't been looking) but i know i'd feel more than disappointed if it did; seeing fit to get rid of the bulk/natural foods isle, but installed a vending machine that dispenses designer hand bags? it would be nice if it were something useful in the machines, but then i guess that defeats the purpose of expensive impulse buys.

heb, please stop turning into just-another-department-store.

LOL. This is beyond ghetto. I can find really good deals on Amazon or some other online store. What happens if the machine malfunctions and you already paid? I bet it would be a hassle to try to get your money back. I can already see people ripping them out of the ground or breaking into them like they do with ATM's.

Why is it ghetto? Is it just another way to shop. If you walk around any airport these days you'll a bunch of Best Buy vending machines, Clinique, etc.

For stores, is another way to use their selling space and for consumer another way to shop...win-win.
