Angry Why do people do this? (Trespassing in apartment complex pools)

I will try to make this as brief as possible.

So, currently I am at a complex right off Medical drive--but I am moving to their sister property on Eckhert. I don't know that we're allowed to post the complex's name, but suffice to say that the property on Medical Dr. is perfectly fine, but the one on Eckhert is considered luxury. They also have a property in Stone Oak(you guys have probably figured out which complex this is). There are a couple of subdivisions in the immediate area--including some new condo complex called 'La Normandie' across the street with a tennis court and pool. The subdivision in back of the complex is also relatively new with some single family homes. They don't have a pool or amenities or anything.

We have two pools and a gym. Since the subdivision opened and has had people moving in and building, some of the local residents have walked into the subdivision and walked their dogs through it as part of their walk, then back out again(it is a small subdivision, so really only a few minutes walk to go through there). There is also a bridge inside said subdivision that leads back out to a public road(Desilu Drive).
We have noticed that as it has become hot, some of the residents of said subdivision have taken to hopping the fence(they actually broke it once, necessitating our maintenance having to put it back up) and going into one of the two pools that we have. They don't normally clean up after themselves either(beer bottles, you name it). Maintenance cleans this up the next day...but stilll.... I saw a woman drive out of the subdivision with a truckload of kids and drop them off at the pool, then leave. Some of them also tampered with the gym door, necessitating a new lock and code. Since I was at the pool I asked one of the kids if they lived here and they said they lived right nearby, at the subdivision. I am not blaming any and all messes on these people, only ones I have seen them make.
One afternoon, I was walking in the vicinity of the subdivision, and the agent who sells the homes was out with her balloons. She says (these exact words) "I hope your'e not going to walk through with your dogs. We have residents complaining about others walking in the area with their dogs into our subdivision."
I didn't want to be snippy, so I didn't mention her residents trespassing and trashing our pool areas. Why do people feel so at liberty to just trespass and hang out in complex' pools--esp. if they don't live there?

Wow on the agent! I guess you know who to avoid when buying or selling a home.
If you ever see her again, I would tell her what's going on and I would also let management of the complex know. Whether something is done is up to them but you did your good deed for the day, so to speak. I'm not sure about the past apartment complex we lived in because we never used the pool but we have pool codes but anyone can just leave the door a bit open and let 5 of their closest friends in at that time.
As for why folks just want to use a complex pool and are not residents, well, it's just a manners and consideration thing.

If they're using your pool, they are probably utilizing the laundromat facilities as well. Welcome to San Antonio. People do what they want to, damn the repurcussions.

At a friend of mines complex, they started going around every couple hours and asking people if they live there/who they were a guest of. Then, after the place was TRASHED, they locked the pool--even to the residents!

I've seen this happen at my Dad's apartment complex! I actually reported it one time as well.

I saw this young teenage girl and a young male who appeared to be her brother walk about 2 or 3 blocks into my Dad's apartment complex.

I called the apartment manager and notified her. I hope more people report this stuff! People shouldn't be doing that. If you see it, report it to the manager.

When we were kids, we used to sneak into a condo complex off of Vance Jackson by Hobby Middle School and skinnydip in thir hot tub. We never trashed it or anything. It was a gated community, but they never changed the gate code that I had "acquired".

Hey... Hubs and I lived in those condos for a couple of years... They had a nice pool...

...

I guess this thread relates in the same way to subdivision pools as well... When we lived with my inlaws we utilized the pool, ALOT... I saw kids literally climbing the rod iron fence, jump over, then go to open the electronic gate for their whole family... Mom, Dad, Brothers, Sisters, Grandma, etc... It was crazy...

Come to think of it, I wonder if we are considered trespassers... My inlaws pay their pool dues just so that we can use the pool and so that they can take the kids to the pool when the kids spend the weekend with them... I take the kids there maybe 1x every 2-3 weeks... But when I do go the inlaws don't go... We have our own card to get in and I just take the kids in, but we don't live there anymore, but the inlaws pay the dues... Not sure if that's kosher or not... I guess I never really thought about it...

Guess there's no security to patrol the complex? The priority should be to catch the ones vandalizing and littering.
