Within an hour of San Antonio is a bit too limiting. Stretching it a bit further, you might want to consider heading out to one of the little bed-and-breakfasts in Washington County (Brenham & Washington County (http://www.brenhamtexas.com/ThingsToDo-Attractions.htm - broken link)). Tons of historic locations (such as Washington-on-the-Brazos or Independence, Texas), tons of spots for antiquing (Burton, Texas -- including one of the biggest antique shows in the entire nation: The Round Top Register Antiques and Crafts Show Guide), wineries, gardens, take the kids to the Bluebell Creamery, Shakespeare in an old barn! (UT College of Liberal Arts), head southeast a bit to the Texas Renaissance Festival, head southwest a bit to take in the Painted Churches of Texas.

This place is quite nice and I've spent a few getaway weekends there:

Thank you for the ideas. I really just want to go somewhere and sit and relax and do absolutely nothing. So, I am looking for a place that has a restaurant on site or close by. I don't want to cook. LOL!
Escondida looks great. Is the food good?
Any other suggestions?

Ye Kendall Inn in downtown Boerne is close to San Antonio and has a restaurant. You can stay in one of the cottages or historic rooms and enjoy the food at the Limestone Grill. It is a State and National Landmark. Food was great last time I was there.

My daughter enjoyed Castle Avalon for a weekend get away but I'm not sure if it has a restaurant. Guadalupe River Ranch, once owned by Olivia de Havilland, was also nice for a weekend visit but check to see if they are open.
