I noticed that entrance is free and people only have to pay for parking.
and that got me wondering if the city of San Antonio makes any money from the Cowboys training camp

S.A., Cowboys to discuss Alamodome extension
SA-Express - July 24th, 2010

Sawaya said he has no problem with the team continuing to have a rent-free lease as long as the city still collects parking and concessions revenue.

The city gets parking and concessions and sales tax/lodging tax revenue from purchases made by visitors. Downtown businesses make some money off of visitors to the otherwise-empty stadium.

I'm glad there's a use for the Alamodome that makes money. It's not like the city has a lot of teams lined up to use the place, and it costs over $1 million/year to operate whether it's occupied or not. If the city charged the Cowboys to use the Alamodome, they'd just hold training camp in Dallas in the stadium that the team owns or in some other city that would give them a venue for free.

The dollar amount of the benefit is all very nebulous. The bottom line is that it's better than nothing... which is what the stadium generates in revenue when it's idle.

$10 for parking per person doesn't sound to me like a deal.
I would think that a team of any sport playing in the Alamodome could generate more money.
