Oh.....an' one other point - guns are quite common here, and concealed carry permits are pretty straightforward to obtain. Texas government trusts their citizens....

I'd give my right stirrup to live in New Braunfels... just too far to get to work every day. NB is a great place.

New Braunfels is a nice town, though it really has grown in the last few years. When I visited my sister up in New York, I liked how you could take the bus to go into the city and around.Walked around Manhatten .Things are more spread out here. But the town really is nice, and never found anyone to be unfriendly. It was a place my late parents really liked. And if you more there, you are near San Antonio and Austin, and you can drive to Corpus Christi and the beach or Port Lavaca and even go to Houston for a visit if you feel like it.

East coast transplant here. I recommend if you are moving to New Braunfels you work there as well. Commuting to San Antonio or Austin from there could get old really fast. New Braunfels is growing fairly quickly as well, so with that comes some big city problems which they are already starting to get. So be advised.

I stayed in NB briefly after moving to Texas and was surprised how similar it was to the California town I lived in. I liked it so much that I wanted to settle down there but San Antonio had more to offer me. I was floored when I read New Braunfel’s unemployment rate was only 3 point something. Almost three times better than the national average.
