Is the 410 N/35 N cut off not the worst place to drive ever? (San Antonio: construction, design)

I drove the opposite direction.. 410 S/ 35 S to my destination in 15 minutes flat this afternoon (it was between 1:45-2pm) and when I headed back the opposite direction it took me 45 flippin' minutes to get back to Perrin/Beitel and 410 (left the location at 2:45 got back to the office at 3:30).

I'm beyond being upset at those that speed up in the left lane to get 3-4 cars in front, whatever. I'll let 2-3 of you in..or even be that person once or twice in a while.

However...today I was seeing people off the Space Center exit driving on the access road median to get on to 35 (they thought it would be faster to exit and get back on). This is so not safe, and so not legal! I wanted to just shoot myself. Who ever thought that it would be a good idea to have these two highways come together into one lane? It's ridiculous. I don't even want to consider being in the area at rush hour.

I hear people complain about Braun/1604, 1604/10 281/1604 but I think this has to be the worst traffic interchange in the city...by far. When it takes me 45 minutes in non-rush hour traffic to get somewhere where it should take me 15? Where's all the complaining in this part of the city?

I think they have big plans for that section of highway. It is terrible. A lot of people know that you have to merge to the right eventually, but they see it as an opportunity to jump ahead of the line by staying in the left lane pasing everyone up sitting in the right lane. As I get closer to the interchange, I'll stay in the left lane and not pass anyone in the right lane. Pisses some people off in the left lane behind me, but so what

That area's bad, but not as bad as it used to be when it was under heavy construction a few years back. Where I've always felt the most uneasy is on the northwest corner of 410, up to about 3 miles west of the I-10 interchange.

Keep in mind that that interchange was designed and built nearly 50 years ago.

I haven't driven through there,
but I would be amazed if it's worse than 410 on the NE side getting on I-35 driving North.
Some genius put an exit for Thousand Oaks 100 yards in front of that.

Besides that, now 410 is going to have about 10 lanes until you get to that funnel.

There's a lot of north/south and east/west streets that take you through some pretty interesting parts of San Antonio. Contrary to popular belief, the expressways are not always the fastest method to get around town. Plus, you get to see some of San Antonio you might not otherwise see.

I was thinking of taking 78 around it...but I'm not sure exactly where 78 would hit Walzem to make it a fessible go around. Maybe I'll try it next week.

I wasn't going to call you out, but i was pretty sure you knew where i was talking about. I'll blame it on the fact that you aren't a native San Antonian
