Default Employment in the Criminal Justice Field

I have looked through some of the recent forums seeking information on employment in the Criminal Justice Field. I have begun my Master Degree in C.J. and I am having no luck finding employment in the San Antonio area. Are there agencies which I am not finding or are these types of jobs difficult to find?

I have tried websites for City Of San Antonio, Bexar County, and Indeed.

Help, please!

Indeed is usually the best place to look for jobs in San Antonio, at least from my experience. If you are new to the area start networking and volunteering at the places you might want to work. That's always a great way to get your foot in the door when it comes to career fields like psychology, sociology and cj.

There are many more law enforcement agencies in the San Antonio metro area than SAPD and the Sheriff's Office. Most of the suburbs, like Castle Hills and Hill Country Village have police forces. Most of the school districts have police forces. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more than 30 law enforcement agencies in this county.

Criminal Justice Links (http://www.aacog.com/links/linkpages/criminaljusticelinks.asp#Law - broken link)

Peace Officer Regional Employment Opportunities (http://www.aacog.com/LawEnforcementAcademy/peaceofficer/employmentopportunities.asp - broken link)

Those two links list just about all of the law enforcement agencies in the area along with state and federal agencies. Also look into places like Child Protective Services. Many social work and therapy type jobs will accept criminal justice degrees; but it helps to have experience with counseling, law enforcement, security, private investigating, or the military.
